Language Acquisition is the IB Middle Years and Diploma subject group covering modern foreign languages taught as additional languages, typically French, Spanish, Mandarin, or Arabic ab initio. IB World Schools follow a structured Language Acquisition framework with defined phase progression and assessment criteria, which is materially different from the GCSE or A-Level approach to languages. The Dubai IB sector is well-established, with multiple authorised IB World Schools and a recognised teacher community. Candidates typically have prior IB Diploma teaching experience or strong MYP background; first-time IB teachers are considered where subject expertise is strong.
